I have sorrowful news to share.  Ruth Lomon passed away at her Cambridge home on September 26, 2017, following a long period of illness.  She was a composer, organizer, leader, colleague, brilliant musician, and force of nature.  She collaborated with many on interdisciplinary projects, and she was a true friend and generous mentor.
Ruth’s most recent CD was issued in March 2017.  She had been a Scholar in Residence at the Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center since 1998.
Although weak from congestive heart failure, Ruth had been working with great determination on another important CD project: selected recordings of the Lomon-Wenglin piano duet, performances of 1972-1985.  Ruth and her duo partner Iris Wenglin were important pioneers in researching and focusing on women composers (both historic and contemporary).
Together with the Lomon family, we would like to suggest that memorial donations on behalf of Ruth be made in support of the production of this CD.  Making these recordings available will carry out Ruth’s wish to help other women composers, and will be a tribute to her work and legacy.
